Scope Creep™ in Therapy Recognizing, Preventing and Managing Role Drift in Clinical Practice Most clinicians do not intentionally step outside their professional role. Scope creep develops gradually when helping expands beyond the original purpose of treatment. What begins as support, consultation or advocacy can slowly evolve into responsibilities that increase risk, blur boundaries and create confusion about the clinician's role. This practical training examines how scope creep develops, why it often goes unnoticed and how role drift can affect clinical judgment, documentation, neutrality and professional integrity. Participants will learn to recognize common situations that place clinicians at risk, including court involvement, family conflict, consultation requests, collateral communication and expanding expectations from clients and referral sources. Through real-world examples and practical discussion, clinicians will learn strategies for maintaining role clarity, setting effective boundaries and responding professionally when expectations exceed the intended scope of services. Cancellation Policy
Continuing Education Registration Policy Registration is required in advance for all trainings. Participants will receive access information and course materials (if applicable) prior to the training date. Cancellations & Transfers Cancellations made at least 7 days before the training date may be transferred to another available training or converted to a training credit. Because seating is limited and course materials are prepared in advance, refunds are not available for cancellations made fewer than 7 days before the training. Attendance & CE Credit Participants must attend the full training and meet all continuing education requirements, including completion of any required evaluation, to receive CE credit and a certificate of completion. Technology Requirements Participants are responsible for having adequate internet access, audio capability, and a device capable of participating in Zoom-based training. Course Changes Trey Trotter, LMFT reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a training due to low enrollment, illness, technology failure, or circumstances beyond reasonable control. If a training is canceled by the provider, participants will receive a full refund or transfer option.
