2022 - Present​

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ponca City brick-and-mortar location closed and Trey returned to the Tulsa area, where her practice became primarily telehealth-based. She maintains a Tulsa office for limited in-person services. Trey Trotter, LMFT became an Oklahoma Board-Approved Continuing Education Provider. In 2025, Trey Trotter, LMFT began writing clinical resources for clinicians, attorneys, courts and the public regarding high-conflict cases. Trey expanded her professional education and resource-development work, creating continuing education and practical professional resources for clinicians and other professionals working with complex and court-involved family systems.

2019:

A significant period of professional growth and program development.  We re-opened in Jenks and we had an additional location in Stillwater. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the practice transitioned exclusively to virtual services for several years. Trey Trotter, LMFT became an Oklahoma Board-Approved LMFT Supervisor

2017:

Trey Trotter, LMFT trained 16 supervisors with 27 hours of curriculum as set forth by the Supervised Visitation Network. All our professional supervisors have been screened, trained and tested in providing professional supervised visitation services.

2015:

Trey Trotter, LMFT presented at the Tulsa County Judicial Conference on Supervised and Therapeutic Supervised Visitation practices. Due to a death in her family, Trey Trotter, LMFT closed her Tulsa location and began practicing full time at her Ponca City location.

 

2014:

Seeing a need to bring national professional standards to the provision of supervised visitation services in Oklahoma, Ms. Trotter initiated the development of an Oklahoma Chapter of the Supervised Visitation Network. After learning that additional providers were required to establish the chapter, she enlisted two other professional supervised visitation providers, and together they formally established the Oklahoma Chapter. Ms. Trotter served as Founder and President of the Oklahoma Chapter until the Supervised Visitation Network restructured its state chapters. She also expanded her supervised visitation services and had eight supervisors on staff, one of whom was bilingual.

2013:

Ms. Trotter began teaching "Co-Parenting Through Divorce" in Ponca City.

 

2012:

Ms. Trotter became trained and certified as a Collaborative Divorce Coach (40-hour training).

2011:

Due to an illness in the family, Trey Trotter, LMFT opened a second office in her hometown of Ponca City.

2008:

Trey Trotter, LMFT helped launch and taught Anger Management classes in Tulsa. She also wrote the curriculum for Blending Stepfamilies, and taught the Positive Parenting Class. Throughout this time, Ms. Trotter developed multiple curricula and gave presentations at various locations, including American Airlines, Street School, the OSU-Tulsa campus, and the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa.

2007:

Ms. Trotter returned to the Tulsa County Courthouse for another year as the Family Resource Coordinator. She also began teaching as an adjunct instructor at OSU-Tulsa. In 2007, Ms. Trotter received training and began conducting Adoption Home S​tudies.

2003:

Ms. Trotter expanded her practice and began conducting custody evaluations. She has conducted more than 30 custody evaluations and has been qualified as an expert witness approximately 100 times in a variety of roles.

Ms. Trotter opened her private practice, "Trey Trotter, MS and Associates" in 2001. Her office grew very quickly. In addition to conducting Counseling, Supervised Visitation, and Mediation, Ms. Trotter received and began conducting over 60 Parenting Coordination cases within the first six weeks of opening.

1999-2001, 2006-2007:

Ms. Trotter was involved in launching another grassroots program, "The Families in Transition Program." Tulsa County recognized that divorce and separation were hard on children and sought to reorganize the process of going through divorce in an effort to minimize the negative impacts for families. This program made it mandatory for parties to participate in Mediation before going to trial. Ms. Trotter was the Family Resource Coordinator and provided information and referrals to the court, attorneys, court personnel and people involved in domestic-court proceedings. In this role, she provided on-site mediation and crisis intervention. Ms. Trotter assisted with Parenting Plan Conferences as well as Protective Order dockets. During this time, Ms. Trotter was a member of the Families in Transition Working Committee, which wrote the Order Appointing Parenting Coordinator, an amended form of which remains in use by courts today. Members of this committee also assisted in writing the Oklahoma Statute that governed the practice of Parenting Coordination, making Oklahoma the first state to pass legislation of its kind. She was also on the Quality Assurance Panel which wrote the standards for professionals who wished to practice Parenting Coordination, made suggestions for systems improvement, oversaw complaints and established criteria for and maintained approved lists of Mediators, Parenting Coordinators, and Custody Evaluators. During this time, Ms. Trotter also served on The Children and the Law Committee. She also received her Specialization in Domestic Abuse and Child Custody Mediation pursuant to  43 O.S. § 107.3, as well as Advanced Issues in Child Custody Mediation for a total of 55 hours of Mediation Training. Trey Trotter, LMFT was also trained in Parenting Coordination and Custody Evaluations and met with colleagues and the Court in quarterly meetings to keep current with best-practice standards. She also authored and taught the Surviving High Conflict course in the Tulsa County Courthouse during her tenure as Family Resource Coordinator.

1998: 

Trey Trotter, LMFT completed 40 hours of Mediation Training pursuant to12 O.S. § 1825.

1996 - 2016:

Taught Helping Children Cope with Divorce and Co-parenting Through Divorce (Tulsa and Ponca City)

 

​1996 - 1997:

Ms. Trotter has had considerable experience in assisting with launching grassroots programs. Tulsa led the nation in a pilot program in which the social-services portion of Head Start was contracted out to a social services agency. Ms. Trotter worked for the social services agency as a Supervisor for Head Start Family Support Specialists. She co-supervised a staff of over twenty specialists in addition to carrying her own caseload. Ms. Trotter also began teaching "Helping Children Cope with Divorce" and parenting classes.

 

1995:

Before graduating with her master's degree and after completing 250 face-to-face client hours under the observation of a supervisor and reflective team for every session, Ms. Trotter worked at the Family Counseling Department and the Home-Based Therapy Department at Family and Children's Services where she completed an additional 250 face-to-face client hours. She also assisted with the Families Interacting in New Directions (FIND) group providing parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT).
